Apple sues Think Secret over headless iMac and iWork: yeah, but try finding them

A quick note: Apple is suing Think Secret over its publication of the details about Q88 (whatever it may be) and iWork. Which really confirms the rumours. It’s going to be product bingo in Steve’s keynote next week.

Have fun trying to track them down to serve the lawsuit:
whois thinksecret.com (did you know you can do this in Terminal on OSX?)
Organization: The dePlume Organization LLC

OK, then, whois deplume.com

I think that’s what’s called an ouroboros. Calling Mr DePlume, white courtesy phone please…

A nice laugh to be had from the company’s complaint about the disclosure: “Unauthorized disclosures diminish the interest of both the mainstream and trade media in the launch of a new product,” Apple said. Right - with pieces in the Daily Telegraph, Independent, Guardian and London Standard there’s hardly a British ABC1 reader who hasn’t heard about Q88. If Apple wasn’t planning on a $500 computer next week, it better well had now.

  1. John Moore Says:

Apple is trying to keep the lid on new developments but it does also benefit from the increase in net coverage regardless of what is announced. I doubt the claim that it diminshes interest from the trade media …. just another spin.

  2. John Says:

Assuming the rumors are true this is closing the barn door after the horse has escaped. However, it certainly could deter future leakers from breaking their NDAs.

  3. Michael Says:

Funny…dePlume’s address is New York but the phone number is in Washington State (east of Seattle to be exact, which includes Redmond). He’s a slippery one he is…

  4. Jonny Evans Says:

Apple is notoriously secretive. People I speak to - well, people from Apple try to avoid speaking to me - I wonder if the company isn’t just the tiniest bit paranoid?
