Dave Winer buys an Apple; Stanford University podcasts lectures
- Scripting News: 10/30/2005
Okay, another thing I did while I couldn’t sleep was buy a new toy at apple.com. A dual CPU, 2.3Ghz, 2GB RAM, 500GB drive, 23 inch cinema display. About $5K. It should be a pretty nice computer. And I deserve it.
Why has Dave Winer bought an Apple? He’s been using PCs for ages. What’s up there?
- Stanford iTunes
Stanford University offers podcasts (free!) of dozens of lectures on important topics (”Why zebras don’t get ulcers”). Great - now I can relive those university days, and ignore all the stuff going on at the front again.

Haven’t we got better things to talk about than what stuff Winer buys or listen to his sleeping difficulties?

He’s well-known for unilaterally falling out with Apple so it is noteworthy I suppose.

What I don’t quite get is why he didn’t go for the Quad 2.5GHz. If you’re in the $5k region already, why not push it up another $700 and get more cores than you could possibly use? :)
